This privacy statement applies to all data we collect through your use of our website. Because we regularly rebuild and optimise our website, this statement may also be updated.

Umbau, referred to throughout as ‘Umbau’ or ‘we’.
In this privacy statement we use the following terms:
- Services: The marketing and communication services Umbau offers.
- Products: The materials, printed matter and other tools we use or sell as part of our services.

2. What personal data do we process?

We collect data in two ways:

Automatically through your website visit:

• Your click behaviour, pages visited and how long you stay on our website.
• Your geographic location, browser type, operating system and device.
  (This data is fully anonymous and is used to improve our website.)

Data you provide to us yourself:

• First and last name (when signing up for our newsletter)
• Email address (to send you updates and valuable insights)

Why do we use this data?
- To offer and improve our services.
- To analyse how visitors use our website.
- To comply with our legal obligations.
- To verify compliance with the terms of the General Terms and Conditions and/or other terms you have agreed to.
- To send you our newsletter (if you have subscribed).

3. Special and sensitive personal data we process

It is not our intention to collect data via our website or by any other means about visitors younger than 16, unless they have permission from a parent or guardian. However, we cannot verify whether a visitor is younger than 16. We therefore encourage parents to be actively involved in their children's online activities. If you suspect that we have collected data from children younger than 16 without parental consent, please contact us immediately at info@umbau.be. In that case, we will delete the information in question.

4. Automated decision-making

Umbau does not make decisions that could have (significant) consequences for individuals based on automated data processing. This concerns decisions made by computer programs or systems, without the intervention of a person (e.g. one of our staff members).

5. How long do we keep your data?

We do not keep your personal data longer than necessary to achieve the purposes for which it was collected. 
- Website use & analytics: Follows the standard retention period of Google Analytics, Meta and LinkedIn.
- Newsletter data: We keep your name and email until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your data.

6. Do we share your data with third parties?

No worries, we do not sell your data. We only share it if:
- It is necessary for the performance of our agreement with you as a client
- We are legally required to do so.

We enter into strict agreements with all external parties we work with, so your data stays safe.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

Yes, we use cookies. Functional, analytical and to make our website better and ensure your ease of use. Cookies also help us further optimise our website.

A cookie is a small text file stored on your computer or smartphone. Prefer no cookies? You can disable this in your browser settings (though our website may then work less well).

You are in control of your data:
- Right of access → Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification → Something incorrect? Let us know and we'll fix it.

How? Send an email to info@umbau.be and attach a copy of your ID (so we can be sure it's really you). We respond within two weeks.
